According to the CWB's forecast, Typhoon In-fa is approaching northern Taiwan and it continues to intensify. The 9th River Management Office has completed flood prevention preparations and is staying vigilant. Deputy Chief Engineer of the WRA, MOEA Chang Kuang-Chih has inspected the office's flood preparedness at various flood prevention hotspots, Nanbin and Huaren levee, Shoufeng River estuary watergate, dredging of Meilun River's waterway, Rongguang pumping station in Jian Township and levee breach construction at the Wanli River Bridge today (20th). The Deputy Chief Engineer was accompanied by Director Hsieh Ming-Chan, Hualien Economic Affairs Department Deputy Director Chang Chih-Hao, and Jian Township Mayor Yu Shu-Chen. 

Deputy Chief Engineer of the WRA, MOEA Chang Kuang-Chih commended the 9th River Management Office for mobilizing the entire office in preparation for the typhoon. He also instructed the office to pay close attention to Typhoon In-fa's developments, particularly the disasters it may cause due to swells, storm surges and short-duration intense rainfalls. The office must also implement various flood prevention and contingency measures, make use of the smart river management system to monitor water information in real-time, issue an early warning, as well as make timely reports and respond swiftly. Deputy Chief Engineer Chang Kuang-Chih reminded the Suhua Improvement Engineering Office, Directorate General of Highways - the contractor of the Wanli River Bridge reconstruction project – that the typhoon warning could be issued late at night, so please evacuate machinery and personnel from the river waterway. 

The 9th River Management Office Director Hsieh Ming-Chan elaborated that since we are now in the flood season, the office has worked closely with the county government to reinforce various flood prevention preparations including the pumping station maintenance/operations and the advanced deployment of mobile flood control pumps. Through the government agency's integration of various engineering and non-engineering measures, we will be able to keep the public safe and face the typhoon's challenges together. At the present, the 9th River Management Office has assembled flood prevention teams for various ongoing construction projects and emergency repair open contract contractors are standing by to ensure river flood safety.
