The Datong Aboriginal Community Development Association in Guangfu Township, Hualien County adopted the waterfront land of the Datong embankment of the 9th River Management Office of the Water Resources Agency and held a landscaping planting event on the high beach of the Datong embankment of Hualien River on the 10th. The 9th River Management Office, Hualien Forest District Office of the Forestry Bureau, Guangfu Township Office, Guangfu Elementary School and the local community were invited to plant a total of 1,300 seedlings, including Rhaphiolepis indica umbellata and Murraya exotica, on the flower terrace at the top of the embankment and on the high beach, in response to the government's policy of promoting zero carbon emissions and the upcoming Arbor Day.

Commissioner Ming-Chang Hsieh of the 9th River Management Office said that since the environmental improvement of the high beach of the Datong embankment was completed 2004, the flow paths have been stable and safe. There are an open space with green grassland that integrates the landscape and water environment and friendly facilities such as an aboriginal cultural sun square and permeable pavement walkway. In the past few years, the 9th River Management Office has been promoting public-private partnership and community adoption and we are grateful for the dedicated maintenance and management of the adopting units, which has made it easier for the public to get close to a quality water environment.

Chin-Chung Chiu Qiu, who is the chief of Datong Village and the community development association that adopted Datong embankment waterfront environment, said that they appreciate the 9th River Management Office for providing it for the community to adopt. The community is very serious about maintenance and management. In addition to weeding and cleaning up waste, the community has further removed exotic species such as river tamarind and Santa Maria feverfew and planted native species such as Taiwan's weeping willow and Taitung firethorn. It is also working with the Society of Wilderness and the Hualien Environmental Protection Union on environmental co-learning to create an eco-friendly environment. Chief Chin-Chung Chiu Qiu also thanked the Hualien Forest District Office for providing the seedlings for the planting.

On the 10th, the "Environmental Greenifying and Planting Event" was held, allowing more local people to feel the results of the construction of a quality water environment. The public was very excited to participate in the event, and during the interaction with the public, children and adults were able to work together to maintain a quality water environment and make our home more beautiful. Today's event was attended by Commissioner Ming-Chang Hsieh of the 9th River Management Office, Mayor Ching-Shui Lin of Guangfu Township, Speaker Chun Chang's office, Councilor I-Ching Tsai's office, Principal Hsien-Wei Wu, teachers and more than 20 children of Guangfu Elementary School, and flood control and water protection volunteers of the 9th River Management Office. The scene was lively and energetic.
